Tenants should contact their respective borough to find out their trash pickup day and recycling information. The gas, electric, and phone company must be notified that the tenant is accepting financial responsibility the day of occupancy.

Also, PPI strongly recommends renters obtain renter insurance, but this is not a requirement. At lease signing, tenants must agree that property owner's insurance does not in any way cover their personal property.
